Thursday Folders
Every Thursday, your child's Thursday folder will come home with extra important information and graded papers for you to see. Please look through it, sign anything necessary, including the back of the folder, and return on Friday. Snacks We will be doing snacks on an individual basis this year. If you'd like to send a healthy snack with your child (ex. goldfish, fruit, cereal bars, etc) you may. We will eat snack in the mornings. Lunch Lunch is from 11:40-12:00. You are more than welcome to come eat with your child after signing in at the front office. See the school lunch menu here. Water Bottles Water bottles with a "pull top" (please no screw tops) are allowed in class. Students will be responsible for taking these to and from school each day. Birthdays We will celebrate each birthday by making a class card for the Birthday Boy or Girl. If you would like to, you can arrange with me to bring a birthday treat so share. We will eat the birthday treat before afternoon recess at 2:15. Please send your birthday treats with your child in the morning or drop them off at the office. Invitations may NOT be passed out at school unless the entire class is invited OR if a boy invites all the boys or a girl invites all the girls. Please have your child consider how he/she would feel if left out from a birthday party when making this decision. We will celebrate July birthdays in August and June birthdays in May. Accelerated Reader (A.R.) This program focuses on reading skills. There are selected books worth a various amount of points. After your child has picked a book and read it carefully, he/she will take a computer test over that book. Points will be awarded for the number of questions answered correctly. Students will be celebrated when they reach their personal point goal. Students will be given time throughout the day to take AR tests in the classroom, library or computer lab. Homework Students will be required to read (at least) 20 minutes each week night. This will be recorded in their daily take home folder. Students will also be expected to practice Smart Words (aka. spelling words) and math facts during the week. Occasionally, work that was not finished in class will be sent home and should be completed and returned to school the next day. |
